Telzung, 18, from Chin State, Myanmar

Telzung

My name is Telzung; I come from Myanmar.

I am 18 years old. In 2021 I had to escape my hometown in Chin State, Myanmar, due to the military takeover. Bombs and soldiers invaded our homes. It was no longer safe for us and many families escaped across the border to Mizoram, North East India.

Since April 2021 I have lived in a refugee camp in Mizoram with my family. I study hard, I've learned to speak English and feel confident and qualified to enrol in an English medium school in India.

I have travelled to Delhi and have found a school where I can gain qualifications to enter medical college. I want to train as a surgeon to enable people to be well and to live a fulfilled life.

DaDa (Amanda Linn)

My name is DaDa. I am 18 years old.

I come from Myanmar and have recently escaped my hometown in Chin State because young people my age are being forced to be conscripted into the army. This is a very unsafe life for us and I managed to escape, leaving my family behind, hiding in a truck under cover of darkness, afraid I might be stopped at the border.

Thank God I arrived safely in Mizoram and now can travel to Delhi. I am ready to enrol in school to prepare for medical training.

Our work

Hope speaks English.

At 25 Bridges we teach English to Myanmar youth, mostly in refugee camps in India, so that they can access education and opportunity. We raise money for phones, so they can take our Zoom classes and scholarships, so they can afford higher education.
